It’s hard to describe the feeling I have right now. This is my first official blog post since 2017 when I said goodbye. On one hand, I’m doing jumping jacks and thrilled beyond measure to be back on this platform. On the other hand, I am scared. If I didn’t say I was a little afraid I wouldn’t be honest. Typically when I make a decision, I stick with it. When I said goodbye, I truly did not think I would blog again. Having the support of my mother, who was also my number one cheerleader and fan, gave me all the courage and strength I needed. Now, that strength has to come from within. Things I never used to worry about, are creeping into my head. It’s up to me now, to find ways to cope with each of them. The fear of simply putting myself back out there is real, but I am choosing to face it. I’m not a runner, period.
There are moments that define our existence, make us realize our true talents, and give us clarity for our future. All of that and more has happened to me over the past year. For a while, I felt as if I had lost my voice. I reached for the meaningful words to write and they simply were not there.
I return now to give each of you an understanding of what I have been through and where I am going.

Look in your closet right this instant. Are you living in a sea of black? While we all know black is a staple color. But, I was shocked to find out how many of you cited it as your “favorite” color. During the give-away, I asked the question, “What is your favorite color to wear?” What I learned is many of us are shying away from color altogether.
If you are an early bird, or a late night owl I’ve learned staying on a schedule is SUPER important! Sure, we all have the occasional late nights, or days we have to be up super early. What I’ve found is our bodies respond best to a routine schedule. If one day you are up at 5:00am going to bed at 11:00pm, the next day up at 8:00am and in bed at 9:00pm this takes a toll on your body. It is especially evident in those tired looking eyes!

Most of us at some point in our lives have experienced arts & crafts! One of my own personal favorites was paper cutting! I loved how all the different shapes would appear out of a plain piece of paper. Now, the same theory applies to fashion! Cut outs appear on clothes everywhere! I’m pretty sure each of you has a pair of “shredded denim” jeans right? How about destroyed tops though? Or, have you tried pairing two shredded pieces together? Below are some challenges I faced when trying to find a destructed sweater.
There are all kinds of sweater choices these days. The biggest decision I make when picking out a sweater is how it feels. Truth be told, I have purchased a few that look really cute. Unfortunately, they don’t feel cute! They itch like crazy! So I have implemented a few sweater purchasing rules I would like to share! First, make sure you take a mirror selfie. This helps you identify how the sweater will really look. Example: I could not decide on sizes for this particular sweater. I was not sure if I wanted it to be slouchy or tight. I made my decision after trying different sizes and taking a few selfies!
A new year is upon us, and I’m asking you to put one word on your planner, GENEROSITY. Ask yourself this, can you be more generous this year? Giving to others is something blogger Lauren did incredibly well in December. When you see a give-away you might not realize how much time and effort it takes. She decided to do 12 of them and I was picked as one of the winners!
Give a smile, share a smile, and pay it forward! There are so many simple things we can do to help each other feel special. Everyone is struggling with something. This past year I can not tell you how many times I was in tears instead of smiles. My mom never failed to pay it forward. No matter what her day encountered, she gave me words of encouragement, tissues to wipe away the tears and endless hugs and love. She did not give me a million dollars, or take me on a fancy trip. She gave me KINDNESS.
It’s the night before Christmas and I have a story to tell!!! After you read, will you take on this tradition as well?
When a gift becomes a memory, it goes way beyond just being a gift. It brings life, love and happiness for years to come. Have a little one, and need some last minute gift help? Buy an ornament and pop it into their stocking! Be prepared for, yes, a little mocking. Your reward is waiting… I promise 25 years later you will see tears dropping!
