Hi guys…. omgosh where do we even start, right? So many of us are desperately in need of a reboot. Life has presented new obstacles, and stress levels have peaked. While my initial reaction was to hold this blog, I truly believe we all need a little something to look forward to. Positivity is so important, and now more than ever I want to start, not stop, writing.
We’re celebrating early here on Style Only Smiles. I am super excited to write this blog, because it is all about the CHEER PARTY. Life is worth celebrating, and this past year has been one I am ready to reflect back on. It’s time to toast with my favorite thing, SCARVES! So buckle and bundle up, it’s cozy in here.
Four years ago, I faced a challenging season. The holidays were approaching, I was a new dog mom, and my husband was headed out of town for a two week trip. What scared me the most though, was facing the first cold and brutal winter without the warmth of my mother. She had a way of lifting my spirits, no matter what the weather brought.

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR, no wait… OPEN IT! I’m hosting my first ever styling event, and it’s at one of my favorite shops at Crocker Park! When one of my “LOCAL LOVE” shops, Banyan Tree, asked if I was interested in doing a styling event, I immediately said YES!
Writing this blog, I sit here with the biggest smile on my face. I feel like I have finally accomplished getting to the finish line. Yet, in many ways I am just getting started. Looking back at the year 2013, when I first started blogging, I had this simple notion – When we look at someone and see their outside layer, we must remember there is a layer underneath, as well.

I’ve done some radical things in my life, but this one is truly special. Dying my hair pink comes once a year, to honor and celebrate my mom’s birthday on September 1st. Yesterday, she would have turned 68 years old, and this is my 4th time going pink. It was my first time going to a wedding with pink hair, but I conquered that challenge, too!

There are times in life we are bound to feel a little overwhelmed. It’s how we choose to cope with those moments that make the difference in how we will feel, and ultimately grow as humans. Three plus years ago, I made the impulsive decision to become a first-time dog owner. If you know me at all, this is not typical of my behavior.

When I was little, I wanted to be a hairdresser. While my mom had many talents, doing hair was not one of them. I remember asking anyone who came over, “Can you put piggy tails into my hair?” While knowing how to french braid is one of my superpowers, it did not become my career.
Our lives go through many chapters and changes, and my career path has done the same. Some changes were out of my control, while others placed me squarely in the driver’s seat.
